British Specialists from Rothamsted Research visited Northwest A&F University


From 29th to 30th September, Professor Martin Parry, deputy director of Rothamsted Research, head of Plant Biology and Crop Science Department, and Doctor Malcolm Hawkesford, vice director of Plant Biology and Crop Science Department, visited Northwest A&F University for cooperation.

On 29th, President Sun Qixin met Professor Parry’ delegation in meeting room 317 of International Exchange Centre. President Sun Qixin welcomed the customs and introduced basic conditions and international strategy of Northwest A&F University in the meeting. President Sun said that Rothamsted Research and Northwest A&F University were in good relationship, many specialists on both sides had fixed partnership with each other, all the cooperative projects were going well, and he hoped that both sides could cooperate in wider realms. Professor Parry introduced Rothamsted Research and projects like 20:20 wheat, bio-energy crop and soil environment run by Plant Biology and Crop Science Department. Professsor Parry expressed that cooperating with Northwest A&F University was significant to Rothamsted Research, which was pleased to cooperate with specialists of Northwest A&F University, and was pleased with excellent students received from Northwest A&F University. This time, he came for renewing cooperation memoir to enforce the cooperation.

Professor Parry and President Sun Qixin renewed cooperation memoir. Cooperation on realms like crop technology and gene modification (wheat and oil crops, special), soil science, environmental science and ecology, entomology, plant pathology, biomathematics and bioinformatics, etc, would go on. Relative contents includes communication between teachers and students on both sides, cooperation on research projects, holding conference together, exchange of research materials and publications.
